Handsworth Grange Community Sports College believes in the power of sport to transform lives, and we work to deliver a school environment that promotes and encourages physical activity and its benefits of improved mental and physical health, ability to improve academic attainment, and grow leadership skills.
As part of our sporting ambitions, we have entered into a number of beneficial partnerships including Forge School Partnership.
Forge School Sport Partnership was originally established in 2001 as part of a Government PE and School Sport strategy to increase participation in high-quality Physical Education and School Sport.
Handsworth Grange Community Sports College is the base and supports the work of the partnership which currently includes 25 Primary Schools and 3 Secondary Schools, which means that we are providing high-quality PE and Sport opportunities to over 10,000 pupils.
We firmly believe that sport and all that it encompasses truly can change the lives of young people and contribute towards raising aspirations, improving academic attainment, and preparing young people to move forward in their lives.
We are also proud to be 1 of 4 Sheffield School Games Organisers (SGO).
The School Games, which is funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government-led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people.
A network of School Games Organisers (SGOs) and Local Organising Committees (LOCs) have worked alongside the Youth Sport Trust in delivering three distinct levels of competition since the Games' inception in 2010 - ranging from intra - inter-school activity, in addition to the National Finals, which is supported by National Governing Bodies.
This network currently services in excess of 20,000 registered schools that compete across School Games' competitions.
The School Games consists of four unique types of competition:
- Intra-School Competition (Level 1)
- Local Inter-School Competition (Level 2)
- County Final (Level 3)
- School Games National Finals
